Phthalates: the Cotting Group is an adept of the safety principle!

In the Furniture market, Cotting removed phthalates from its formulas several years ago; in other markets, they are still found in certain products because of their specific properties.

In general, phthalates are used 90% of the time in plasticising and for the flexibility of products. There are two types of phthalates with very different characteristics: on the one hand, long chain phthalates (DINP and DIDP type) that are still being used by Cotting,  and which a study carried out by ECHA (European Chemicals Agency) has shown to be risk-free, and, on the other, short chain phthalates, whose use is not recommended. For safety measures, phthalates are prohibited in the Children sector.
