Are there any particular precautions to take, to maintain the original sparkle of fabrics ?

  • Act as fast as possible to remove ink stains that can quickly become stubborn
  • Take particular care with vulnerable light colours
  • Regularly remove sweat stains
  • Avoid extended exposure to a heat source

What are the cleaning instructions for coated fabrics ?

  • Regular cleaning is necessary at least once a week to maintain its original appearance
  • Clean with a sponge and warm water with soap or "Colorado" (Cleaning product specially designed by Griffine for cleaning coated fabrics. You can obtain it from your seat manufacturer).
  • Rinse with running water.
  • Avoid washing and rinsing with excessive amounts of water that may get into the seams.
  • Disinfectant products used in hospitals do not change the appearance of the fabric if they are diluted according to pharmaceutical laboratories instructions

How to get rid of stubborn stains ?

  • Most fresh stains can be removed.
  • Test on a hidden area of the seat with a rag soaked in surgical spirit diluted with some water (the spirit content should be less than 30%)

Is there any forbidden cleaning products ?

  • Undiluted alcohol
  • Acetone
  • Perchlorethylene
  • Trichlorethylene
  • All solvents and detergents
  • Abrasive cleaning products
  • All types of wax
  • These products could alter the covering's protective varnish and make it porous.

According to which abrasion method are COTTING fabrics tested ?

  • All coated fabrics are tested according to Martindale test. Number of cycles determines abrasion rating.
  • All fabrics from COTTING Contract range do perform very well (average 50 / 60 000 cycles.
  • Maximum 100 000 cycles).
  • There is no correlation between other tests (like Wyzenbeek) are tests methods are different.

What is AM 18 ?

  • AM 18 is the new regulation which will replace the former M classification
  • used in France.
  • The result of this method is the loss of mass of the fabric.

What is the difference between M1 and M2 ?

  • M 1 = non inflammable. Flame should be out after 5 sec. Product could be damaged as it is consumed by fire
  • M 2 = non propagation. Fire is not propagated to another seat.

Is it possible to develop a fabric according to customer’s own colours / specifications ?

  • YES but a minimum quantity of 1 000 lm / colour will be required before launching any trial in laboratories.

Can COTTING fabrics be glued ?

  • Cotting fabrics could be glued but first of all, surfaces where fabrics will be put on should be cleaned and prepared. Then Cotting fabrics could be stick on with some specific glue (like Ovalit M / Henkel).

What are the different steps of coating ?

  • Preparation of coating paste (pu, pvc...)
  • Coating Printing : Shapes, cylinder designs are transferred onto fabrics.
  • Finish : Action of finishing the products with several procedures like embossing (relief print),
  • smoothing (shiny of mat appearance of fabric)., varnishing (for a dry and pleasant touch).
  • Control : All productions are controlled in order to guarantee respect of customer's specifications and
  • good quality of all fabrics produced.
